Kitchen

Demolition of Mystery Room-
The whole downstairs was demo'ed down to the studs as well.  The old door leading to the mudroom, the one that was never used, will now be the only door to the mudroom and has been enlarged to 36".  The opening into the old kitchen, behind Cliff, more then doubles in size, hopefully lending to a more open feel.

New Kitchen-
We decided to make the long "mystery" room (the house's original kitchen) into our new kitchen.  Caine went along with the idea because the basement runs under this room vs a crawl space under the old kitchen, making the whole plumbing thing manageable.

The first picture is the hallway along new kitchen to bathroom.  Caine tiled from the mudroom door back through bathroom.

The second picture shows the length of the new kitchen from the front door looking into the new family room and mudroom door.

Another view of the kitchen from mudroom door.  We decided to keep the chimney exposed.  While we wanted to refinish the original oak floors, too much patching was needed and we frankly ran out of time.

The new kitchen!  It was a rough start: the cabinets came in damaged and had to be reordered which in turn delayed the countertop measurement, cutting and installation.  But its done and looks awesome.  Our best find in the kitchen? The three cork pendants over the peninsula at $5 each!
